Elon Musk has issued a statement after being accused of giving a “Nazi salute” during yesterday’s inauguration for Donald Trump.
Trump was officially sworn in on Monday, January 20, and will now begin his second term as President of the United States. Naturally, there was plenty to talk about following yesterday’s swearing in, with Trump making typically lofty promises as for the next four years.
Yet though some people chose to focus on First Lady Melania Trump’s choice of hat, while others zoned in on just how much Vice President J.D. Vance’s daughter resembles her father, it was arguably Elon Musk who caused the most stir online.
The Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder, who used his social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) to champion Trump’s cause in the run up to the election, was at the Capital One Arena in Washington ahead of yesterday’s Inauguration Day parade.
Delivering a rousing speech during which he spoke about sending the first human to Mars and planting an American flag on the “Red Planet”, Musk then courted controversy with a gesture that saw him thump his chest and fire his right arm out towards the sky.
“Thank you for making it happen. Thank you, my heart goes out to you,” Musk then said, before turning back to the audience and repeating the gesture towards the US flag.
The historical parallels that can be drawn with such a salute are obvious, and it wasn’t long before the internet erupted with reactions. CNN anchor Kasie Hunt described the move as ‘not something you typically see at American rallies’, and said it was ‘evocative of things that we have seen through history’.
On Elon Musk’s own platform, X, people were a little bit more brazen with their opinions, accusing the 53-year-old of having performed a “Sieg Heil” as “clear as day”.
Anti-Defamation League, the antisemitism watchdog, moved to defend Musk, writing on X: “It seems that [Musk] make an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute, but again, we appreciate that people on on edge.
“This is a delicate moment. It’s a new day and yet so many are on edge. Our politics are inflamed, and social media only adds to the anxiety.
“In this moment, all sides should give one another a bit of grace, perhaps even the benefit of the doubt, and take a breath. This is a new beginning. Let’s hope for healing and work toward unity in the months and years ahead.”
US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was quick to clap back at the Anti-Defamation League, writing: “Just to be clear, you are defending a Heil Hitler salute that was performed and repeated for emphasis and clarity.
“People can officially stop listening to you as any sort of reputable source of information now. You work for them. Thank you for making that crystal clear to all.”
Musk himself then accused Cortez of having: ‘just 100 percent lost her marbles’.
Another X user wrote: “Can we please retire the calling people a Nazi thing? It didn’t work during the election, it’s not working now, it’s tired, boring, and old material, you’ve burned out its effect, people don’t feel shocked by it anymore, the wolf has been cried too many times.”
Under that comment, Musk replied: “yeah exactly’ and a yawn emoji before adding in a follow-up “Frankly, they need better dirty tricks. The ‘everyone is Hitler’ attack is sooo tired.”
It’s no secret that eyebrows are the ultimate beauty playground. Just scroll through social media, and you’ll find a wild variety of brow trends, from unicorn horns to Nike swooshes and even fishtail designs.
But just when you thought you’ve seen it all, the quirky new halo brows entered the conversation…
Like many bizarre beauty trends, halo brows owe their existence to the wonderfully weird world of social media. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become the ultimate breeding grounds for trends that challenge traditional beauty norms.
Halo brows – a halo-like arc across your forehead that connects both brows into one loop – was created by Hannah Lyne, a 16-year-old British-born influencer, whose new doodles went viral almost instantly.
“So me and [a friend] were talking about the fishtail brow trend & then we came up with this,” Lyne captions the Instagram post where she introduces the design that left people excited and confused.
Speaking with Pop Sugar, the beauty blogger explained it wasn’t a joke and that the “look was influenced by fishtail brows.”
“I was having a conversation with a friend trying to come up with a new idea for a look, and all of a sudden it came to me that I should connect my brow tails,” she said.
Further discussing her vision with Yahoo Style, Lyne said, “I just want people to embrace being silly and doing weird, creative looks!”
‘Ridiculous’ fad As with many trends born on social media, halo brows sparked a flurry of mixed reactions.
Some Instagram users seemed to love the design and praised Lyne’s creativity: “I love it!” writes one user, while a second pens: “All of your looks are so original…Honestly your talent is endless!”
“How on Earth do you come up with your ideas? They’re so creative and you always execute them so well! You’re incredibly talented,” shares a third.
However, the majority of netizens were quick to dismiss the updated unibrow as a “ridiculous” fad.
“Vomits Uncontrollably,” writes one user in the comments section of Lyne’s Instagram post. “I can’t tell if she’s joking,” offers a second, while a third writes, “Instagram? More like Instaregret.”
Meanwhile, others said she looks “ridiculous,” and suggested they’re “deleting Instagram because of this photo.”
Yet Cosmopolitan called the “heavenly halo brows” “strangely beautiful.”
“Prepare to meet the unconventional, yet gorgeous work of arch,” the publication writes of the looped eyebrows.
Even if you’re not on board with the look, it’s fun to see makeup artists finding different ways to style their eyebrows – whether they have one or two of them.
What do you think of the halo brows? Would you rather pluck or wax than make your brows grow? Please let us know your thoughts and then share this story with your friends so we can also hear from them!
Once again, Melania Trump is officially the First Lady of the United States. On Monday, January 20, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, and his wife was at his side for the entire day of ceremonies and celebrations.
While one body language expert branded Melania Trump “unhappy” during election night, things appeared to be different for the inauguration. Meanwhile, Melania’s outfit was in the spotlight and the subject of deep analysis, with one piece of clothing standing out.
The First Lady wore a very special hat, which appeared to have a powerful message. And for that – on social media at least – Melania Trump was mocked.
Donald and Melania have been preparing to move into the White House for months. On Monday, January 20, it finally happened as the former real estate mogul was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, beginning his second term as president. His wife and the rest of his family, including he and Melania’s son, Barron, were at his side the entire day. Because of the unusually cold weather, Trump took his oath of office inside the Capitol Rotunda.
Speaking to the Mirror, body language expert Judi James noticed Donald spent much of the inauguration clutching his wife’s hand or, as she described, “taking it like some Regency gentleman, kissing her proffered cheek or even gazing at her as they danced together like a man in the throes of some romantic thrall.”
The First Lady’s outfits are always likely to be a big talking point. For the inauguration, they were, of course, heavily scrutinzed. According to Judi James, Melania’s outfit played a crucial part in sending a message about what kind of First Lady she would be.
“Her saucer- shaped hat and her fiercely-tailored coat twinned her as an equal to Trump and a woman who means business this time around. Beneath the brim her smile was regal and confident, while her eyes were kept hidden,” James said.
“During tricky social moments, like when they were seeing the Biden’s off after Trump’s flame-thrower of a speech, Melania seemed to make her own feelings very clear when Biden placed an arm around her waist for a full ten seconds and she turned away towards her husband with one elbow splayed as she held onto her hat brim. As Trump leaned in to shake hands with Biden she placed her own arm around Trump’s waist for several seconds and patted him in a gesture of reward and reassurance.”
While Melania wore a stunning outfit, getting the exact one she perhaps wanted appears to have been quite tricky. Women’s Wear Daily contacted 16 designers to ask if they would dress Melania. However, Mrs. Trump, it appears, isn’t all that popular with designers.
Representatives for designer brands such as Michael Kors, Diotima’s Rachel Scott, Zankov’s Sergio Hudson, and House of Gilles declined to comment whether they would want to work with Melania for the inauguration. Previously, during Donald Trump’s first term, designers such as Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Jason Wu publicly refused to dress Melania.
One of those who has worked closely with Melania over the years is French designer Hervé Pierre. Speaking with Women’s Wear Daily, he explained that he hasn’t gotten a good answer about why some people won’t work with the First Lady.
“I don’t really do that for the good reason that the fashion industry is not very welcoming [of Trump.] That’s no secret,” he explained. “Some are very open-minded and would be able to do something special. But a lot of people are not.”
The French designer recalled when his work with the Trumps negatively impacted his life. When shopping in a designer’s store in New York City, one person told him he “was not welcome here.”
“I understand that you can criticise Mrs. Trump, but to say to someone who is coming to shop – full-price, ‘You are not welcome here.’ That is something that I would have never expected,” Pierre said.
“Some of the designers here in New York are lovely. The Europeans are more open-minded. They see dressing Mrs. Trump, due to the press coverage that she is getting, as a business opportunity to generate sales and free publicity.”
Melania Trump’s “power signals” have increased, body language expert Judi James stated. She added that the First Lady’s warm smile showed “an air of relaxed confidence.
“As they leave the service, Donald and Melania amplify their clasped hands into a more pronounced display of unity. Trump lifts the clasp higher a few times, almost waving it as they walk towards their car, as though signaling both pride in his wife and a gentlemanly concern for her as they step off the curb,” James told the Mirror.
“Trump’s expression is familiar – the slightly stern, almost baleful look that mirrors his official portrait. Melania, in contrast, seems determined to inject a touch of celebration into the occasion. Though her eyes are shielded by the brim of her hat, her wide, toothy smile creates an air of relaxed confidence.”
Melania has stated that she is much more prepared to enter the White House this time around. As a result, she will likely approach things differently – according to another body language expert, Inbaal Honigman, even her behavior was different at this inauguration compared to the one in 2017.
“Melania’s body language during the 2025 inauguration is still and neutral,” Inbaal told the Express. “She sits still in her model pose, her facial expression neutral, not drawing any attention to herself, letting all attention be on her husband.”
He continued by saying that she appeared more “friendly.”
“In comparison, Melania of 2017 flashed smiles and waved around, displaying a more friendly persona to the crowds,” he explained. Melania’s face is naturally neutral. She doesn’t have an expressive demeanor in general and has previously been criticized for having short-lasting smiles, which she must have known.”
Inbaal Honigman concluded: “This inauguration’s Melania was protected from criticism by hiding her expression behind a wide-brimmed hat so that she could keep her neutral expression with no issue.”
Yes, the hat. Melania wore her hat for the entire day, both inside and while walking outside, and it became the talk of the town. The hat was designed by Eric Javits, who said in a statement that dressing Melania was one of the greatest honors of his career.
“My art background gave me an edge in bringing harmony and balance to the face by creating hat shapes that would flatter and enhance every kind of face,” Javits said in a statement. “In this specific case that was not difficult to do, in that Mrs. Trump is blessed with great bone structure, beauty and a wonderful sense of style.”
The hat made it hard to see Melania’s eyes, but even though it appeared to be sitting steadily, her husband had seen something different. When speaking in Emancipation Hall, Donald joked that her hat nearly blew away while she was stood next to a military helicopter.
“She almost blew away,” Trump said and laughed. “She was being elevated off the ground.”
In addition to the hat, Melania wore a navy silk wool coat with a navy skirt and an ivory silk crepe blouse, created by American designer Adam Lippes.
“The tradition of the presidential inauguration embodies the beauty of American democracy and today we had the honor to dress our first lady, Mrs. Melania Trump,” Lippes said in a statement. “Mrs. Trump’s outfit was created by some of America’s finest craftsmen and I take great pride in showing such work to the world.”
Although the ceremonies throughout the day went well for the Trumps, social media users had a lot to say about Melania’s hat. One person wrote on X, previously known as Twitter, that she “looks like she’s going to a funeral.”
Another person added: “She’s mourning America.”
Many things will differ for Donald and Melania during their second tenure at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. One major difference is that their son, Barron Trump, won’t live there. He began his studies at New York University last year. However, though he might not visit weekly, his mother told Fox that Barron is always welcome.
“Obviously he’ll have a bedroom there, but he’s an adult, he’s in college now. I think he will come and visit, yes,” Melania said, adding that she’d love it if he’d bring friends. “Yeah, whatever he would like to do, yes. I feel that as children, we have them till they are 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them, and then we give them the wings to fly. And I always respect Barron’s yes and no, and what he likes to do, where he would like to be.”

Princess Diana was known for her heartfelt visits to hospitals, where she brought joy and hope to those in need.
However, one visit turned into something far more — a passionate love affair that remained shrouded in secrecy for years.
It’s 1995 – just two months prior to the infamous Panorama interview that would forever alter Diana’s life. You might remember that interview, when Princess Diana came clean about her struggles with mental health and the trials of her marriage, capturing the world’s empathy.
Two months before that interview, Diana crossed paths with a handsome doctor, a Muslim whose dark good looks were compared to the charming actor Omar Sharif.
The dashing heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Khan, worked at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. But how did this unlikely pair end up together?

Well, that’s because Joe Toffolo, the patient who underwent surgery, was married to Oonagh Shanley-Toffolo, an Irish nun and acupuncturist who was a close confidante of Princess Diana.
After the initial visit, Diana returned to the hospital almost daily for three weeks, eager to pursue the handsome surgeon. The connection was electric.
Smoked cigarettes and loved KFC
Today, when we look back at countless photos of Diana visiting the hospital, it’s officially stated that she went to cheer up sick children or raise awareness for cystic fibrosis.
That’s definitely true. However, she also had personal reasons. Beneath the surface, her motivations were deeply personal. Because at 35, Diana had discovered a reason to smile once more.

When Diana and Khan started seeing each other, it marked Diana’s most serious involvement since her separation from Prince Charles three years earlier.
But it came shrouded in secrecy. Few knew about their budding romance, a bond that seemed improbable at first glance. Dr. Khan, then 37, was a heart surgeon that was running fat and smoked a pack of cigarettes a day,
He had penchant for late-night jazz clubs and Kentucky Fried Chicken — an unconventional match for the Princess of Wales.
To keep their love under wraps, Diana cleverly disguised her messages for Khan, using the alias ”Dr. Armani.” They met in secret, often in unconventional spots to avoid prying eyes.
On one occasion, Diana donned a black wig to sneak into Ronnie Scott’s, a famous jazz club in Soho. In another instance, Khan hid in the boot of a car to slip into Kensington Palace, aided by Diana’s loyal butler, Paul Burrell.
Their romance flourished even during casual outings.

One day, when Diana was feeling low, Khan whisked her away to a pub near Harefield Hospital where he had worked. The name? The Prince of Wales.
”She thought it was hilarious,” he recalled with a chuckle.
Diana was so enamored that she even asked her butler to find a priest who could marry them, despite Khan’s Muslim faith. Their love deepened as they spent time together, sharing laughter and discovering each other’s worlds.
Diana reportedly read books on Islam and cherished a photograph of “my dishy doctor.” She even visited Khan’s family in Lahore, Pakistan, where she embraced their culture and enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea.
Met William and Harry
This whirlwind romance took a more serious turn when Diana introduced Khan to her sons, William and Harry.
She described him as “Mr. Wonderful” and, according to her butler Burrell, she referred to Khan as her soulmate. Friends of Diana stated that he was ”the love of her life” and that she expressed distress when their relationship ended.
Yet, as love stories often go, their fairytale faced obstacles.
The mounting pressure from the media began to take a toll on their relationship. While Diana was accustomed to the limelight, for Khan, the intense scrutiny was daunting.
He feared that pursuing their relationship publicly could jeopardize his career.
They discussed possible solutions, including moving to Pakistan — a plan that nearly came to fruition. Talks of relocating to Australia or South Africa were also on the table, but nothing materialized. According to The Guardian, Diana’s desire for public acknowledgment clashed with Khan’s reluctance, leading to a heartbreaking conclusion: the romance ended in July 1997.
Khan finds out about Dodi
Just a month later, tragedy struck. In the early hours of August 31, 1997, Diana died in a car crash in Paris, alongside her partner Dodi Fayed and their driver, Henri Paul.
Khan was blindsided by the news of Diana’s relationship with Dodi, discovering it only after it became public. ”When I found out, I was really mad; mad as hell,” he confessed in a 2012 interview.

The shadow of her tragic death looms over him still. “Sometimes I feel like screaming,” Khan shared, reflecting on the emotional turmoil. “There have been very bad times. I have moved on, but it keeps coming back.”
Despite the heartbreak, Khan fondly remembers Diana: ”We all have our drawbacks, but I found her a very normal person with great qualities and some personal drawbacks, like bad habits.”

In 2006, Khan married Hadia Sher Ali, a 28-year-old woman descended from Afghan royalty, but the couple divorced two years later.
He now lives in the UK, continuing his work as a heart surgeon and engaging in humanitarian efforts in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Reflecting on his life, Khan shared: ”It is very good to be home. I am quite relieved to be home. My blood pressure is stable—I go fishing, I go for walks. It feels like a sanctuary. It’s very peaceful.”
Though the romance between Princess Diana and Dr. Hasnat Khan was short-lived, it remains an interesting chapter in her life, a testament to the complexity of love in the face of royal duty and public scrutiny.
As we remember the Princess, we celebrate not just her legacy, but also the love she shared with a man who saw her for who she truly was—a normal person with extraordinary qualities.

Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) has become the subject of heated discussion following the release of a leaked video that seemingly shows him dozing off during the high-profile confirmation hearing for Attorney General-designate Pam Bondi. The video, which surfaced online on Wednesday, depicts Schiff with his head tilted and eyes closed while Bondi responds to rigorous questioning from the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The footage quickly went viral, drawing criticism from political opponents and reigniting scrutiny of Schiff, who has faced mounting challenges since his censure by Congress last year. Critics have labeled the incident another embarrassment for the California senator, while his supporters have called the accusations exaggerated and opportunistic.
The hearing for Bondi, President-elect Trump’s nominee for Attorney General, was already marked by contentious exchanges. The former Florida Attorney General faced pointed questions regarding her stance on presidential pardons, her preparedness to oversee the Department of Justice, and her potential role in politically sensitive investigations.
“Senator, I have not reviewed any of those files. If confirmed, I will examine the files related to the pardons as well as the ongoing investigation.” Read more below
Prince William and Kate Middleton are undoubtedly looking forward to a year full of opportunities. Kate’s cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery made 2024 a tough year for the Prince and Princess of Wales. Of course, what transpired has had a huge impact on not only them, but also their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

During last year’s struggles and tribulations, William and Kate prioritized family life, with the future king calling 2024 “dreadful.”
Now, royal correspondent Rebecca English has given a stunning story that Kate Middleton would return to royal duties, but not on the same scale as before her c.a.n.c.e.r diagnosis.
Prince William & Kate Middleton to continue prioritizing their children
Now, a year after Kate Middleton vanished from public view in January 2024, things are looking considerably brighter. She announced last fall that she was cancer-free, but she has since taken things slowly, as she should.
Regardless of their important status in the Royal Family, she and her husband, Prince William, have always prioritized the well-being of their children. Throughout Kate’s c.a.n.c.e.r tr:eatme:nt and recuperation, the couple made every effort to shelter their children from negative influences. Even though their children are royal and their eldest, Prince George, will one day be king, William and Kate want to provide their children with as normal a childhood as possible.
“It’s very frightening for children”
As previously said, 2024 has been a difficult year for the Royal Family, and Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have all lived in worry, probably not knowing how their mother is doing or what c.a.n.c.e.r is. As a result, Seward stated that William and Kate will ensure that their children have some extra great gifts in 2025.
Though William and Kate want a more regular life for their children, royal life will inevitably catch up with them. As senior members of the Royal Family, the pair bears significant responsibility.
Kate Middleton is “keen to prioritize her family even more”
It’s unclear how, when, and how Kate Middleton will boost her royal obligations in the coming months. It remains to be seen whether she and William will travel internationally together, but the turbulent time has given them a completely new perspective on life, which may have an impact on Kate’s life in the future.
In a post for the Daily Mail, royal writer Rbbeca English cited sources who stated William and Kate have a completely different outlook on life, adding that the “trauma” has “changed” the Princess of Wales as a person.
Kate Middleton to ‘prioritize children over royal duties,’ source claims
Furthermore, one source claimed that Kate will no longer follow the same schedule as she did before her illness.
Rebecca English also stated that Kate had “no plans—yet—for any full-scale foreign royal tour.”However, the princess “may accompany her husband on one short trip, if she feels up to it.”
At the same time, William is expected to continue his royal duties as usual, potentially even taking on more engagements as his father, King Charles, undergoes his c.a.n.c.e.r tr:eatme:nt. While he may travel overseas alone on shorter excursions, the fact that he will not undertake longer journeys abroad is “another sign of Catherine’s progress.”
