Baltimore mourns the loss of three firefighters—Lt. Paul Butrim, Kelsey Sadler, and Kenny Lacayo—killed in a vacant rowhouse fire on Monday, with EMT John McMaster critically injured. The structure partially collapsed during the rescue effort in the New Southwest/Mount Clare neighborhood. Together, the fallen had 44 years of service.
Mayor Brandon Scott and Fire Chief Niles Ford expressed deep gratitude for their bravery. Sadler and Lacayo suffered cardiac arrests, and McMaster remains on life support. The firefighters entered the vacant home to protect an adjacent occupied building, highlighting the risks they face.
This tragedy underscores the dangers posed by Baltimore’s 16,000 vacant homes, sparking calls for reform to prevent future losses.
A man who was cut in half by a forklift has answered the one question everyone is always asking.
Loren Schauers, from Montana, U.S.A., was working as a laborer when his life changed forever in September 2019.
In a horrific accident, while driving a forklift, he plummeted off the side of a bridge and fell over 50 feet to the ground below, resulting in the lower half of his body and one of his arms being severely crushed by the industrial truck.
While Loren managed to avoid death, he was forced to undergo a rare and complex procedure known as a hemicorporectomy.
A hemicorporectomy, otherwise known as a trans-lumbar amputation, involves the lower half of the body being amputated, including the bony pelvis, pelvic contents, lower extremities, and external g**italia, per the National Library of Medicine.
Loren was also forced to amputate his arm, which was squashed in the accident.
Speaking to RTL 4, he said: “The doctors gave me a choice. The question was, do you want to live or die? Do you want to live with the situation now or die with the life you had?”
Although his condition has undoubtedly impacted him, Loren hasn’t let it stop him from living his life.
He and his wife, Sabia, document their journey on YouTube, where they have over 639,000 subscribers.
In videos, the couple has opened up about their plans for the future, which include traveling and starting a family.
In one Q&A, Loren was asked: “Do your friends still treat you the same way they used to before the accident? Are you happy, surprised, or disappointed by some of them?”
“A couple of friends came out of the woodworks and have been really supportive, [others] totally reverted and have been reclusive,” he said. “But it’s whatever to me, you know, I got Sabia, that’s all I need.”
Sabia agreed, adding: “Going through this together has definitely strengthened a lot of the aspects of our relationship.”
As their channel has grown in popularity, it’s led to more intrusive questions about the couple’s personal life following Loren’s procedure – such as their s** life.
Addressing this frequently asked question, Sabia told the Daily Star: “A question we get repeatedly is, ‘How do we have s** and how do we become intimate?’”
Firmly, she continued: “That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to, as it’s very disrespectful.
“You wouldn’t ask a random couple on the street how they have s** and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn’t give people the right to ask.”
Loren is often also asked how he uses the bathroom, which is a question he has happily answered.
In a YouTube Q&A, he explained: “A colostomy which is my colon pulled out of my body so I can poop.
“And I have bilateral nephrectomies, they’re tubes that go into my kidneys that drain my kidneys into bags so, therefore, that is how I poop, pee, and fart.”
A colostomy is an opening in the large intestines or a surgical procedure that creates one, per Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Sabia changes Loren’s colostomy bag daily and also showers him.

Tyrus, the WWE wrestler known for his tough-guy image, has a surprising depth that goes beyond his imposing presence.
Intelligent, articulate, and perceptive, he has overcome personal struggles, including a painful childhood where he once wished to change his skin color.
That hurt never truly fades, but instead of letting it fuel hatred, Tyrus used it to build strength. In this article, we explore Tyrus’ journey — and the famous wife who stands by his side. Stay tuned to learn how she helped shape his incredible story.
For anyone who’s into wrestling, Tyrus, 51, is a name that probably rings a bell. A former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, he made a big impact in the ring.
But these days, he’s known for more than just his wrestling skills. He’s become a cable news personality, regularly appearing on Fox News and Fox Nation, especially as a co-host on the late-night talk show Gutfeld!.
His journey to fame and fortune definitely wasn’t a straight line, though. Honestly, when you hear where he started from, it’s hard to believe how far he’s come.
A rocky start: Tyrus’s childhood struggles
Born George Murdoch on February 21, 1973, in Boston, Massachusetts, Tyrus’s journey to fame is nothing short of remarkable.
But life didn’t offer Tyrus a smooth start. Born to teen parents — his father was 19 and his mother only 15 — he grew up in a turbulent household in Los Angeles. The situation took a devastating turn when his abusive father injured him as a child, leaving him with a damaged eye. This incident led Tyrus’s mother to flee, taking him and his brother along.

But Tyrus and his brother weren’t welcome at their grandparents’ home due to their mixed-race background, forcing the siblings into foster care. The rejection was painful, and young Tyrus became “obsessed” with changing his skin color, believing it would reunite him with his family.
Eventually, Tyrus and his brother rejoined their mother, who worked tirelessly —often up to 80 hours a week — to provide for them. Stability was a fleeting concept, as the family moved every six months to follow her work.
Things worsened when a stepfather entered the picture. Unwilling to accept this new parental figure, 15-year-old Tyrus left home. Homeless and proud, he refused to ask for help. He spent several nights hiding in his school’s locker room.
Salvation through sports
Amid the chaos, Tyrus found salvation in sports — particularly football.
“Football saved my life. No question. I’d be in jail or dead if it wasn’t for football,” he later revealed to the Lexington Clipper-Herald.
Through football, Tyrus gained male role models, was held accountable, and formed friendships. But even more important? He found something to fight for, a goal to strive for in the distance.
Coaches and teammates became his lifeline, offering him not only a place to crash but also a sense of direction. His talent for football also opened the door to higher education.
The giant, offensive lineman caught the attention of recruiters, earning him a spot at Antelope Valley College and later the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK).

The giant, offensive lineman caught the attention of recruiters, earning him a spot at Antelope Valley College and later the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK).
At UNK, Tyrus flourished as part of the Lopers football team, where he was known for his size and skill. The Lopers offensive line averaged over 300 pounds per player — not exactly a team anyone wanted to face.
The athletics went well, but even more importantly, Tyrus grew as a person during his time at UNK. He became a man, learning the value of structure, discipline, and keeping his word.
Still, financial struggles followed him. Despite earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1998, Tyrus couldn’t afford a cap and gown to attend his graduation ceremony. True to form, he refused to ask for help, a decision he later admitted was rooted in pride.
From bar brawl to wrestling star
Many might not know this, but Tyrus actually had a few tryouts with the NFL. Unfortunately, they didn’t pan out, and later a ruptured appendix shattered any dreams of a career on football’s biggest stage.
After those devastating news, Tyrus began working as a substitute teacher by day and a nightclub bouncer by night.
The story of how Tyrus found his way into the wrestling world is a rather entertaining one.
One evening in the early 2000s, Tyrus was working as a nightclub bouncer when a fight broke out between two unruly patrons. The scuffle quickly escalated, and Tyrus stepped in to diffuse the situation. As he puts it, he ”clunked their little heads together and carried them out like a suitcase” — all while cracking jokes.
This caught the attention of professional wrestler Tommy Dreamer, who couldn’t help but think Tyrus’s natural charisma and physical presence would look great on TV.
And so, in 2006, Tyrus made his pro wrestling debut under the name Brodus Clay, later earning fame as The Funkasaurus. By 2014, he joined Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where most fans came to know him simply as Tyrus.

Her black-and-white ensemble, designed by Adam Lippes, featured a tailored dark navy double-breasted coat. She paired it with black gloves and heels, and a wide-brimmed, and double-faced wool boater hat with an ivory ribbon stood out. Some netizens gushed over the look, while others criticized it. One person commented, “Funeral attire.”Another person echoed, “Definitely looks like she’s going to a funeral,” while another quipped, “Dressed for a funeral? Well played!” Agreeing with the previous comments, someone added, “Looks like Melania is in a state of mourning.”
Sharing the same sentiment, an Instagram user reiterated, “Looks like she’s at a funeral.” Another netizen noted, “Looks like they are attending a funeral,” while some focused on the hat. One person speculated, “Guess Melania doesn’t want anyone to see her face today – isn’t it impolite to wear a hat indoors?”The speculation continued, with one individual writing, “the [sic] hat of Melania is very weird… like she wants to hide her eyes from something… or her forehead.” Another critic remarked, “Melania’s hat looks ridiculous. Love her Christmas show at the WH. [sic] The hat and dress were austere and inappropriate.”However, not everyone disapproved of her look. One person said, “Melania looks incredible!!” Another gushed, “Melania!!! Fabulous that hat is everything [sic],” while someone else wrote, “Melania looks so elegant.”Surprisingly, according to reports, the first lady’s hat almost didn’t make it to the inauguration. The hat, designed by Eric Javits, was a custom piece requested by Hervé, Melania’s stylist, based on one of the latter’s summer boater hats.Disaster struck when the package containing the hat arrived wet and crushed. Eric had to recreate the accessory in under four days. The replacement hat made it on time after Hervé personally transported it from Miami to the first lady at Mar-a-Lago in the days leading up to the inauguration
Did you know that heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the US? Our unhealthy diets and stressed lifestyles have a lot to do with the rise in the prevalence and danger of this condition over the past few years.
Healthy living and attempting to reduce stress can help you avoid heart failure, but another thing that can be very helpful, even lifesaving, is being aware of the symptoms of heart failure a month in advance.
These are the signs that a heart attack could occur within the next month. Always consider them to be warning signs.
1. Swollen Feet
If you have congestive heart failure, one or both of your heart’s lower chambers lose their ability to pump blood effectively. As a result, blood can back up in your legs, ankles and feet, causing edema.
2. Fatigue
When the arteries become narrow your heart receives a lot less blood than it is used to.
This makes the heart work a whole lot harder than it normally would have to, leaving you feeling overly tired and drowsy just about all of the time.
3. Shortness of breath
When your heart is getting less blood this means it your lungs are not going to be able to get as much oxygen to the lungs as you normally would.
The two systems depend on one another so without one you can’t have the other. If you have been having trouble breathing it is best to consult a doctor as soon as possible, this could mean it is getting close to time for your attack.
4. Weakness
When your body becomes weak, all of a sudden it is because the arteries becoming more narrow are not allowing blood circulation properly.
Your muscles aren’t getting what they need, and this could cause you to fall even for what may seem like at first no reason so be especially careful.
5. Dizziness and Cold Sweats
The poor circulations is also causing the blood flow to your brain to be restricted. This is very life threatening. This will at first cause dizziness and clamminess. You should not ignore this.
6. Chest Pressure
If you are having onset symptoms of a heart attack chances are you have been experiencing discomfort in your chest, whether it’s minor pain or built-up pressure.
This will constantly increase until the attack itself happens.
7. Flu or Cold Symptoms
If you feel as if you are having flu symptoms out of nowhere this could be because the attack itself is about to happen within the near future.
Many people feel they have developed a cold just days before their attacks.
How to handle this:
See a doctor as soon as you can if you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms. The greatest method to avoid a heart attack is to catch the symptoms as soon as possible.
Share this with your family and friends, as you might be able to assist someone who is in need!
