NEW YORK (TNND) — President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced Friday morning in New York for his conviction on 34 felony charges in his hush money case after the Supreme Court refused to block the sentencing, making him the first U.S. president to be convicted and sentenced for a crime to take office.
Trump could have been sentenced of up to four years in prison but instead was delivered a sentence that does not include penalties like jail time or probation in what’s called an unconditional discharge. Prosecutors did not oppose the judge’s decision, which means Trump will not serve any jail time, probation or pay any fines for a conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records in a case that made him the first former or current president to be convicted of a felony.
“Never before has this court been presented with such a unique and remarkable set of circumstances,” said the judge overseeing the case, Juan M. Merchan. “This has been truly an extraordinary case.”

Thousands of people are frantically seeking safety after the Palisades Fire in Los Angeles, with elderly individuals being evacuated in nothing more than their socks and pajamas. Regrettably, it seems that this intense conflict is far from being resolved, as powerful winds compelled planes to land and the flames escalated beyond control.
Fierce winds fueled the flames and caused confusion in evacuation zones as the Palisades Fire exploded with such ferocity that inhabitants were forced to evacuate for their lives, some without shoes or basic needs.
More than 30,000 people were forced to evacuate their homes as the initially controllable fire rapidly grew out of control, leading authorities to warn that the worst was “yet to come.”
By early evening, approximately 3,000 acres had been burned by the fire, which started at 10:30 a.m. close to Piedra Morada Drive. As inhabitants frantically fled, it surged at an alarming rate, burning the equivalent of more than one football field every minute and hopping highways due to the unrelenting winds.
A British man, Neville Linton, purchased broccoli from Aldi only to discover an unexpected guest, a snake, when he unwrapped the vegetables at home. The reptile, believed by Aldi staff to be a young ladder snake, was transported to Dudley Zoo. However, herpetologist Dr. Steven J R Allain disputes this identification, suggesting it is a harmless viperine water snake commonly found in southwestern Europe and northern Africa. Allain explained that snakes from the Mediterranean region can end up in imported vegetables, possibly scooped up by agricultural equipment during field movement.
Despite the snake’s unexpected journey, Allain reassured that viperine water snakes pose no threat to humans. Neville, seeking compensation for the distress caused, finds the offered amount inadequate, considering the risk to his disabled son and vulnerable mother-in-law.
